MAMLa PARTICIPATES IN ON-LINE COURSE ON IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CAPE TOWN AGREEMENT

From Red MAMLa we give continuity to the impulse of our Strategic Axes, in this case, specifically to the EE-1 "Education and Training for equality"; since thanks to the support of the International Maritime Organization - IMO regarding the distance training program "Course implementation of the Cape Town Agreement 2012", offered by Spain to the IMO Member States in the scope of the Memorandum of Understanding on technical cooperation activities between Spain and the IMO, the latter made available to the Red MAMLa Membership 20 places to participate in the course.

The objective of the course was to facilitate the implementation process, clarifying the flexible measures included in the Agreement, detailing the actions as coastal, port and flag State, for a total of 16 teaching hours, basing the course program on:

  1. Technical Cooperation Activities for the ratification of the 2012 Cape Town Agreement.

  2. General aspects of the Agreement.

  3. States in the Implementation of the Agreement.

  4. Technical Aspects of the Agreement.

It has been an honor for our organization to be part of this important training through the representatives of the Member States: Argentina, Colombia, Cuba, Panama and Venezuela.

We would also like to thank the IMO for the opportunity provided, as well as the Directorate General of the Merchant Marine of Spain, Maritime Rescue, Jovellanos Center and its staff of Coordinators, Instructors and Evaluators, for having made this training possible, contributing to the development of capabilities for personnel working in the maritime sector.
