VI HEMISPHERIC CONFERENCE ON LOGISTICS, INNOVATION AND COMPETITIVENESS

The city of Veracruz, Mexico, was the venue for the VI Hemispheric Conference on Logistics, Innovation and Competitiveness, a key event organized by the General Coordination of Ports and Merchant Marine of the Mexican Ministry of the Navy (SEMAR) in collaboration with the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the Organization of American States (OAS). Under the theme "Building the Port Future," the conference brought together experts and authorities from the maritime and port sectors to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the industry in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Latin American Women Maritime Association (Red MAMLa) had a prominent participation in the event, represented by key figures such as Capt. Alt. Ana Laura López Bautista, General Coordinator of Ports and Merchant Marine of Mexico, Capt. Altura María Marísa Abarca, General Director of Ports of Mexico, and Elvia Bustavino, Deputy Administrator of the Maritime Authority of Panama. These leaders gave technical presentations on strategic issues for the development of the sector, reaffirming the commitment of women in promoting port competitiveness and innovation.

Among the topics discussed during the conference were fundamental issues such as the impact of single windows on port logistics, innovation in the offshore industry, and the use of technology to enhance port security. It also explored strategies for competitive port management, sustainability and energy efficiency, and the creation of connected and intelligent ports to meet the future challenges of the maritime industry.

Red MAMLA recognized the leadership of Alt. Ana Laura López Bautista, who contributed to the success of the event as President of the Technical Advisory Committee on Competitiveness, Innovation and Logistics. She also expressed her appreciation to the Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) and the OAS for their role in organizing this important conference, which strengthens regional cooperation to improve competitiveness and innovation in the hemisphere's ports.
