RED MAMLa ACTIVELY PARTICIPATES IN THE XXIX MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE OF THE VIÑA DEL MAR AGREEMENT

The Latin American Network of Women Maritime Authorities (MAMLa Network) had an outstanding participation in the XXIX Meeting of the Viña del Mar Agreement Committee, held in Brazil. Betty Mulens, representative of Cuba and member of the Network, participated in person in the event, which brought together representatives of the 16 maritime authorities that are members of the Agreement, as well as delegates from the Paris and Tokyo Memoranda of Understanding, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and other key entities of the maritime sector.

In addition to their personal representation, the MAMLa Network was represented virtually by its President, Macarena Cladera, Coordinator, Michelle Gabina Arrocha, and Daymara Regla Juan Gil, Director of the Maritime Technical Committee, among other prominent members. Their participation underscored the network's commitment to strengthening gender equality in the maritime sector and moving towards a more inclusive work environment.

During the event, Macarena Cladera highlighted the progress made over the last two decades in the inclusion of women in supervisory roles in the maritime sector. Although the percentage of women is still low, the increase in their participation has been remarkable. She also emphasized that this progress is not only the result of women's talent, but also the support of men committed to gender equality.

Red MAMLa participation in this important meeting reaffirms its commitment to promoting a more equitable and inclusive environment in the maritime sector. Each step taken by the Association strengthens the shared vision of building a sector where equal opportunities and women's representation are a consolidated reality.
