THE LONDON PROTOCOL SUB-REGIONAL WORKSHOP WAS HELD IN GUATEMALA
The National Maritime Authority of Guatemala, in collaboration with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Central American Commission for Maritime Transport (COCATRAM), organized the “London Protocol Subregional Workshop”. This event, led by consultants Gildardo Alarcón Daowz and Enrique Vargas Guerra, was held at the Army Conference Center from March 5 to 7, 2025.
The workshop brought together delegates from Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic and the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Guatemala. Its main objective was to strengthen capacities in the prevention and control of dumping of waste at sea, in compliance with international maritime instruments for the protection and conservation of the oceans.
During the event, Ingrid Jaqueline García, Permanent Member of Red MAMLa for Guatemala, gave a conference to commemorate International Women's Day under the theme “UN Women 2025: Investing in Women”. During her speech, she highlighted the work and achievements of Red MAMLa in the region and invited more women to join this initiative. Also participating in the event was Natalí Molina Moncada from Honduras, Associate Member of Red MAMLa.
