FIFTH HEMISPHERIC CONFERENCE ON LOGISTICS, INNOVATION AND COMPETITIVENESS
Organized by the Inter-American Committee on Ports of the Organization of American States and the Panama Maritime Authority, the V Hemispheric Conference on Competitiveness, Innovation and Logistics on Maritime-Port Digitalization as a key to global trade was held on April 18, 19 and 20, 2023, in Panama City. The event was attended by delegations from all over the continent that converged to expand on issues of innovation and port digitization.
On the first day of the Conference together with the various Heads of Maritime Authorities of the Continent, the welcoming remarks were made by Mr. Jorge Durán - Head of the Secretariat of the CIP, Arturo Bueso Chincilla Chairman of the Executive Committee of the CIP and Noriel Araúz - Administrator, Panama Maritime Authority (AMP) and Chairman of the Technical Advisory Committee (CTC) on Innovation, Logistics and Competitiveness.
Afterwards, the inaugural speech was given by the President of Red MAMLa and Deputy Administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority - Elvia Bustavino, who presented a timeline of the 25 years of administrative and port evolution of the AMP.
Following her presentation, the President of the Network moderated the first panel of the Conference on Integrated Port Management - Innovation, Logistics and Competitiveness, with the presence of Carla Monrabal, President of the Dock Sud Port Management Consortium and Argentine Port Council and Associate Member of Red MAMLa, where she shared the progress made in the digitalization processes, such as the adhesion to the Single Window for Foreign Trade (VUCE), which allowed the CGPDS to improve its competitiveness through innovative tools.
On the second day of activities, our member Nellys Sanchez CEO of NS Consulting and Training participated in the Port Resilience Panel in favor of Maritime Transport, where she stood out with a Ted Talk style participation, in which she expressed the importance of resilience in maritime port management.
During the last day of the Conference, Carlos José González España, Partner of Empresa Multimodal, S.A.S., was present as moderator of the panel "Coffee with M.A.S. as moderator of the panel Coffee with MAMLa "Conversations with Equity", which was integrated by Montserrat Ambriz, Program Coordinator, CIP Secretariat, OAS, Neida Medina Turcios, Customer Service Manager, Operadora Portuaria Centroamericana (OPC), Honduras, Matia de Luiggi, Country Manager, SAAM Towage, Panama, who discussed the integral development of women, under the principles of training, visibility, recognition and empowerment.
