HIGH IMPACT AND INTERNATIONAL PRESENCE OF RED MAMLA

The violet heart of Red MAMLa is revitalized by the participation of our representatives in various virtual events of great scope and impact in pursuit of the visibility of maritime women in England, Costa Rica and Paraguay.

The day began with the First Meeting of Maritime Women's Associations, organized by the Gender Equality Network of the International Maritime Organization - IMOGEN, in which our President, Paula Pérez, participated, demonstrating her high commitment and identity with the values and principles of Sisterhood, Empowerment and Training, under which our Network is based and proudly representing us before the world.

Furthermore, the Secretary General of the International Maritime Organization expressed his pleasure for this First Meeting and reaffirmed the willingness, interest and commitment of the IMO to continue supporting the Gender Program and all the work related to Sustainable Development Goal No. 5. In addition, she praised the work of all the Women's Maritime Associations - WIMAS, and expressed her desire to continue to take on new challenges.

Later, from Costa Rica, our esteemed MAMLas conducted the Virtual Discussion: "Women of the Sea". The first block included the participation of national panelists, who transmitted the contribution and experience of women as Seafarers. During the second block, the presentations were in charge of international panelists, who highlighted the good practices in other countries of the region to encourage women to participate in maritime port roles; and there again we had the distinguished participation of our President, Paula Pérez, as moderator.

It is worth mentioning that, simultaneously, on Costa Rican soil, a Protocol Ceremony was held in which the President of the Republic swore in the National Commission of Port Women, thus giving a great positioning and visibility to maritime women.

Finally, the Permanent Representation of Paraguay held a Webinar in Commemoration of World Maritime Day, entitled "Experiences, lessons learned and challenges for the future Midshipwomen of the Paraguayan Navy", which was aimed at the Naval Cadets of the Military Academy "MARISCAL FRANCISCO SOLANO LÓPEZ".

The opening words were in charge of our President, Paula Pérez, who motivated the young cadets to have confidence, respect, loyalty and admiration towards themselves, since "... under the feminine look we can motivate and contribute in the permanent development of our nations, through the capacities and acquired experiences".

The main lecture was given by Lieutenant Diana Ortiz, Commander of the Patrol Boat Captain Ortiz P-06, who urged the future officers to strategically generate priorities in the personal and professional sphere, creating short, medium and long term goals, cultivating day by day two great virtues that lead to success: Patience and Perseverance.

In short, a day that made us vibrate and allowed us to exalt our essence as Maritime Women with which we are gaining space, both regionally and internationally. Each of these events that we share adds and contributes to our growth and strengthening as empowered women, trained and ready to continue taking on new challenges in the global maritime sector and thus say with enthusiasm and joy: WE ARE PROUDLY MAMLas!
