IMO STRENGTHENS TIES WITH MEMBER STATES THROUGH BRIEFING SESSION

At its headquarters in London, England, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) held a briefing session for Member States to strengthen understanding and cooperation between countries and the Organization.

During the event, representatives from various IMO departments provided a comprehensive overview of the work of the Organization, covering key topics such as legal matters, maritime safety and security, and other fundamental pillars of the Organization's areas of work.

The meeting also served to provide practical information on how Member States can access IMO resources, register for meetings and navigate the Secretariat structure.

The focus of the meeting was to highlight the following aspects of mutual cooperation:

  • Facilitating Member State interaction with IMO,
  • Reflecting a commitment to transparency
  • Promoting the modernization of the industry, and
  • Working more effectively on global maritime issues;

all of which are essential attributes in addressing current and future challenges to build a regulatory framework conducive to the development of a green and sustainable global maritime system.
