MEXICO HOSTED THE XXIII REGULAR MEETING OF THE ROCRAM

For the second time the Port of Veracruz had the honor of hosting the representatives of the Maritime Authorities of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic and Uruguay, as well as the Secretary of the Viña del Mar Agreement (AVM) as members of the Regional Operational Cooperation Network of Maritime Authorities of the Americas (ROCRAM), with the virtual participation of representatives from Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela.

The purpose of the meeting, held from October 21 to 23, was to evaluate and present the efforts made by the region to promote cooperation among Maritime Authorities through the exchange of information and documentation. This approach aims to optimize the implementation of international agreements, highlighting as a significant achievement the approval of the proposal of the Delegation of Colombia, to include Gender Equity as a permanent item on the agenda of the ROCRAM, which will allow the Maritime Authorities of the region to share activities and initiatives to promote inclusion, covering actions and achievements managed from the Red MAMLa.

At the closing of the XXIII Meeting, the Unit of Port Captaincy and Maritime Affairs, as the National Maritime Authority of Mexico (UNICAPAM), handed over the General Secretariat of ROCRAM to the General Directorate of Port Captaincy and Coast Guard of the Peruvian Navy (DICAPI) for the biennium 2025-2026.
