RED MAMLa, 4 YEARS OF A GREAT JOURNEY

It has been 4 years since the signing of the Declaration of Valparaiso, a day that marked the beginning of a wonderful course that has been characterized by sorority, professionalism and commitment to women in the maritime sector.

These are four years of achieving goals, of materializing dreams, of diligent and dedicated work, which from 2017 to date has allowed us to develop a management that today is recognized both regionally and internationally.

Today, Red MAMLa is congratulated and inserted in the dialogue of networks, organizations, universities and regional commissions that work for economic, maritime and port issues.

Within our strategic partnerships we have the support of:

  • CIP-OAS: Inter-American Committee on Ports (CIP) of the Organization of American States (OAS).
  • ECLAC: Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.
  • COCATRAM: Central American Maritime Transport Commission, part of the Central American Integration System (SICA)
  • ROCRAM: Regional Operational Cooperation Network of Maritime Authorities of the Americas.
  • ISPS NETWORK
  • Secretariat of the Viña del Mar Agreement
  • SLOM: Sociedad Latinoamericana de Operadores de Terminales Marítimo Petroleros y Monoboyas (Latin American Society of Operators of Maritime Oil Terminals and Monobuoys).
  • UMIP: International Maritime University of Panama

Today, we can also say that we have transcended and multiplied our experience worldwide. Today, we are named in the different scenarios of the International Maritime Organization, we are an active part of the IMO Gender Program and we present documents before the Technical Cooperation Committees, we participate in international events together with other women's associations and we have signed memorandums of understanding to train and make the Women of the Latin American Region even more visible.

Today, there are 71 women members of Red MAMLa, including lawyers, captains, engineers, doctors, public relations specialists, coastal zone specialists, biologists, hydrographers, among others.

Today we have more strength, ideas, objectives and capacities to continue expanding our work.

Today, sorority, professionalism and continuous work are our signature.

Today, more than ever, we remain committed to:

  • the fulfillment of SDG 5
  • creating more spaces and opportunities that promote the integral development of women in the Latin American region, and
  • contributing to the development and visibility of the professional activity of maritime, port and logistics women.

For more years, for more women trained and empowered, for more dreams fulfilled.
Our Association continues full ahead and Proudly MAMLa!
