RED MAMLa AND WISTA ARGENTINA, WORKING FOR A MORE INCLUSIVE FUTURE
In order to continue progressing towards gender equality in the maritime sector, the President of WISTA Argentina, Viviana Fonseca, and Dafne Anghelidis, member of the Executive Committee of the organisation, met with Laura Valeria Rodriguez, Vice President of Red MAMLa and Permanent Representative of Argentina to our association. The meeting took place at the Prefectura Naval Argentina and focused on strategies to strengthen cooperation between these institutions.
The meeting focused on key issues such as gender equality and the expansion of employment opportunities for women in the maritime industry, which are crucial to progress towards equality and the strengthening of the sector.
From this perspective, it was discussed that promoting women's participation in strategic and operational roles not only contributes to breaking historical barriers, but also enriches diversity and innovation in a key area for trade and the global economy.
Both parties stressed the need to build strong alliances among partners to advance concrete initiatives that promote empowerment, leadership and inclusion, as these are essential to ensure that more women can enter and thrive in this dynamic sector.
The meeting concluded with a call to redouble efforts to make the maritime domain a more equitable space, with participants reaffirming the need for a more inclusive maritime sector.
