RED MAMLa CONGRATULATES ITS HQ STATE PANAMA FOR MOVING MORE THAN 9 MILLION TEUs BY 2024
Panama continues to consolidate its position as a key hub for containerized cargo transportation in the Americas, thanks to the strategic vision and constant effort of the people and members of MAMLa involved in this process. Its privileged geographical location, with terminals on the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and state-of-the-art land and rail connections, facilitates efficient interconnection between ports. In 2024, Panama's port terminals achieved a nationwide mobilization of 9,569,771 TEUs (unit equivalent to a 20-foot container), a historic milestone that represents an increase of 15.4% over the previous year.
Of this volume, 89.4% represented container transshipment and 10% import/export, reflecting the robustness of Panama's logistics network. In addition, 58.1% of the containers were moved along the Atlantic coast and 41.9% along the Pacific coast, demonstrating Panama's ability to manage the flow of trade in a balanced and efficient manner.
From Red MAMLa, we extend our sincere congratulations to all the stakeholders involved, from port operators to the Maritime Authority to MAMLa members, whose tireless work continues to take the country to new heights in international trade. This growth reflects the commitment of the country and its human talent, with innovation and efficiency in the maritime sector, consolidating itself as a regional benchmark in port logistics.
We follow these achievements closely and celebrate every advance of our headquarters!
