TECHNICAL TRIP TO PORT QUETZAL AND VISIT TO THE NAVAL SCHOOL OF GUATEMALA
During the VI Regional Conference and V General Assembly of the Network of Women Maritime Port Authorities of Latin America from December 19 to 21, 2023 in Guatemala, a number of activities were developed, among which stood out, the technical visit of the Membership to the Port Company Quetzal, with an important panel about the performance of Women in the Port Sector.
The panel discussed the role of women in ports and related activities, the inclusion of women in the activities they develop, the hiring of women in management, administrative and technical positions in the company and the main challenges they face in the future.
The panel was led by women from the Empresa Portuaria Quetzal - Guatemala:

- Yaqueline Carranza

After this discussion, our membership went to the Quetzal Port Terminal for a technical visit where they had the opportunity to see the infrastructure and learn about all the activities that are carried out from these facilities for the benefit of Guatemala and Central America.
At the end of the technical tour, our members went to the Naval School of Guatemala for a mentoring and discussion session with cadets of the School. There, the President Elect of the Executive Committee, Macarena Cladera; and the outgoing President Elvia Bustavino and the President of the First Executive Committee, Paula Perez, shared with the students different perspectives on Leadership and Empowerment.Additionally, during this conversation, a round table was held where the Permanent Representative of Bolivia, María Borda; and the Permanent Representative of the Dominican Republic, Estrellita Encarnación; expressed their vision on what has been the work and journey within the Naval Craft, and how has been their experience in the positions they currently hold.
This exchange of approaches and points of view was highly valued by the students of the Naval School who were very interested and grateful for the clarity of the ideas presented, expressing that the meeting was a source of inspiration for the development of their professional path.
