YEAR IN REVIEW: HIGHLIGHTS OF 2021

The year 2021 is coming to an end, and with it, an important phase for Red MAMLa; during this year our organization has consolidated its Strategic Axes and Principles for the benefit of the Recognition, Training, Empowerment and Visualization of Latin American Maritime Women through the following actions:

ACTIVE PRESENCE IN THE MARITIME PORT FIELD

This was done through the continuous participation of the Organization in International, Regional and Member State scenarios, among which the contribution made to the Day for Women in Maritime Campaign, organized by the Associations sponsored by IMO, the presence in the First Meeting of Gender Associations - organized by IMOGEN and the development of internal events such as:

  • "Women with Courage and Commitment", addressed to the members of the Association.
  • Training Workshops: "IMODOCS" and "GISIS", aimed at members of the Association.
  • Red MAMLa Anniversary, for Association members and special guests.
  • Coffee with MAMLa, aimed at the general public, in its three editions: Legal, World Maritime Day Celebration and Mentoring, where relevant technical issues in the maritime-port area were discussed.

UPDATING OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL PLATFORM

Thanks to the management that began in 2020 with the International Maritime Organization, on April 5, 2021, the launching of the Network's Web Site: www.redmamla.org, which has managed in a short time to position itself as a reference of information in our region, also fulfilling one of our most desired goals by integrating this medium to the digital information platform.

During these 8 months since its launching, the pages of the website have been viewed 55,225 times and 6,691 users have visited the site, showing a clear preference for the technical content that has been integrated into the site week after week.

STRATEGIC RELATIONSHIP

During 2021, Red MAMLa aimed to strengthen strategic relationships that would allow it to join efforts to achieve gender equality, in accordance with the provisions of SDG5.

In this regard, the Network's own activities have been developed in a diligent, professional and committed manner, with emphasis on:

  • Our membership in order to keep it informed of the efforts and efforts of the Executive Committee for the benefit of the Network, as well as events, news and training in the Region.
  • Union and Communication with the Committees to provide all the support for the realization and execution of their tasks, projects, among others.
  • Structuring of processes that allow a better organization of documents and management.
  • Monitoring of tasks to ensure the efficiency of time and resources allocated.
  • Contacts with regional and international organizations to strengthen the image of Red MAMLa.

And so, we bid farewell to this year with pride and gratitude. Pride in having achieved the objectives proposed for the growth and consolidation of our organization. Gratitude to all those people, collaborators and associations that, hand in hand, worked together with Red MAMLa, since these achievements have been the result of the dedication, effort and support received, and that commitment is something to be thankful for.
