WORLD ENERGY EFFICIENCY DAY
World Energy Efficiency Day is celebrated every March 5. The definition of this date is related to the First International Conference held in Austria in 1998, where more than 350 experts and leaders from 50 countries met to discuss strategies to address the energy crisis and provide possible solutions.
Twenty-four years have passed since this milestone, where energy efficiency, together with the use of renewable energies, has been consolidated as the main tool for building more sustainable societies and curbing climate change.
In this perspective, energy efficiency seeks to optimize the quality of life using the minimum possible resources, through the optimization of processes and the use of less polluting products. This has had a positive impact on companies and consumers, becoming an effective savings tool, reducing energy costs of all kinds with an ever-decreasing impact on investments.
Under the same concept, the International Maritime Organization has chosen as its Theme 2022: "New technologies for greener shipping" focusing on the importance of delving into specific issues related to the promotion of inclusive innovation and the adoption of new technologies to support the needs of a greener transition of the maritime sector.
